Jason Zaran - Owner/Designated Food Eater

Family, friends, food, and fitness (not always in that order) have been cornerstones of Jason's life as far back as he can remember. A Business graduate from SAIT Polytechnic, Jason climbed the ranks of the food industry sector, ultimately heading up Canada's Western Region for H.J. Heinz company.  His deep knowledge of the industry, passion for the dining experience, and countless meals on the go, led him to the "light bulb" discovery of The Main Dish.  Thousand's of busy Calgarians now benefit from his unique lifestyle based eating alternative.

Mark McEwan - Corporate Chef

Mark’s love for good food is thanks to one of the best chefs he knows, his Italian mother, Teresa.  A Red Seal graduate from SAIT Polytechnic, Mark has been a leader in kitchens for 20 years.  Mark has worked with Cactus Club, Sequoia Restaurants, Glowbal Restaurant Group, and Devour Catering. When not slicing & dicing, Mark can be found hiking and boarding in the Rockies with his wife, chasing pheasants across the prairies with his trusty dog, fly fishing the clear Alberta rivers, playing numerous sports, and spending time with family.  With a deep respect for food and preparation, coupled with a genuine desire to empower and mentor his team, Mark is excited for the opportunity to grow with Calgary’s leading health-conscious eatery. 

Kevin Outhet - Director of Finance/Profit Planning

Kevin started his Main Dish life at the beginning of it all as a founder and Executive Chef.  Later he grew into the role of Operations Leader opening and overseeing multiple locations.  Now his role has shifted to focus on the business side of The Main Dish.  He is pursuing his Certified Management Accounting designation and brings that educational background, combined with his kitchen experience and industry knowledge to poignantly direct initiatives that improve the bottom line.  When he’s not doing that he can be found (or not found) mountain biking and camping up and down the Rocky Mountains, cooking great food, or drinking nice beer and wine wherever nice beer and wine can be found.

Greg Brown - Operations Ninja

A graduate from the College of The Rockies in the Adventure Tourism program, Greg has been in the food service industry for 16 years and has a passion for customer service. When not in the restaurant engaging our regulars, you will find Greg shredding the mountains either on two wheels or two skis. His passion for fitness and a healthy lifestyle made The Main Dish a natural progression for Greg. Prior to The Main Dish, Greg has worked in the heli ski industry and operated a yoga hiking business based in Kananaskis. Greg is always open to a casual chat about the local mountain sport scene, especially if it’s over a Granville Island Winter Ale and a bowl of Southwest Chicken Quinoa.

Carissa Lazette - Marketing, Promotions, and Events Leader

A graduate of the SAIT Business program, majoring in marketing, Carissa has been part of The Main Dish team for over 6 years. Carissa has grown her role from doing localized in store marketing to designing and creating advertising and branding campaigns. She has also kept The Main Dish relevant through social media, public relations, and co branding campaigns with partners.  Carissa is a an avid traveller and loves checking out the local food along the way!
