Celebrity Burger Cook-Off Raises over $8,500 for Ronald McDonald House Southern Alberta

Cook-Off was once again a great success.  Held on Saturday May 14th at The Main Dish in Bridgeland, Calgary’s sports and media celebrities came out to cook up and sell gourmet burgers for the Ronald McDonald House Southern Alberta.

Red Dawg from CJAY 92, who was paired with Main Dish Executive Chef Ryan Bourquin were the big winners of the day selling more burgers than any other team.  Bourquin created the “Saskatoon Burger”, with fresh Saskatoon berry jam, brie, peppered bacon, and lettuce, topping the winning burger

Some of the other celebrities in attendance were NHL alumni Craig Conroy, Charlie Simmer, and Jaime McLennan, Olympic medalists Kaillie Humphires, Kristina Groves, Helen Upperton, and Mellisa Hollingsworth, Calgary Stampeder Charleston Hughes, and QR77’s Jock Wilson.  The event was hosted by Clark Robertson aka Don Cherry from CBC's Dragon's Den.

This year’s event raised over $8,500 for the house, with over $30,000 for the Burger Cook-Off’s 5 year history.
