The Main Dish team is made up of passionate food industry professionals
with over 50 years of combined experience. Also, like you, we are
busy, health conscious Calgarians, who need to make good eating decisions
without compromise – despite our crowded schedules. That’s
the main idea behind The Main Dish!
OUR TEAM
Jason Zaran - Owner/Operator
Family, friends, food and fitness (not always in that order) have
been cornerstones
of Jason’s life as far back as he can remember. A Business graduate
from Calgary’s
SAIT Polytechnic, Jason climbed the ranks of the food industry sector,
ultimately
heading up Canada’s Western Region for H.J. Heinz Company. His
deep knowledge
of the industry, passion for the dining experience, not to mention
countless meals on
the road, led him to the “light bulb” discovery that busy
Calgarians could benefit from
a lifestyle-based eating alternative.
Mike Kadri - Director
Mike has over 20 years of experience in all facets of the restaurant industry. He is a former owner and operater of a much-adored and still operating Italian restaurant in south Calgary.
With a successful traditional restaurant and other relevant businesses under his wing, Mike moved away from the Casual Fine Dining sector after seeing immediate potential in developing a food service catering to two of today's most dominant lifestyle trends: quality and convenience.
Kevin Pelissier and Kevin Outhet - Executive Chefs
Kevin and Kevin are young, market-tested and proven chefs with an
innovative and
passionate approach to making each meal an experience. Some of their
best creations
come purely from tasting an extraordinary dish and then recreating
it to perfection -
by memory!
Kevin Outhet brings a formal business background and 5 years of restaurant
management
to the team.His natural talent and zeal for cooking have intensified
from an equally powerful
love for world travel.
Kevin Pelissier has 12 years of experience in restaurants, from bussing
to sous-chef/
supervisory roles in a variety of different restaurant formats. He
earned his Chef’s Red
Seal at SAIT in 2005. Golfing, skiing and wine tasting are some of
his passions.
Matt Kearns - Sous Chef
At the young age of 22, Matt has already gained 7 years in the restaurant industry. He was a sous chef at Joey Tomatoes on Barlow Trail for 3 years, and has worked/volunteered at restaurants such as Centini's, Lacaille on the Bow, and the River Cafe. Matt has an undying passion for food and truly enjoys every aspect of the industry. Some of his hobbies include playing the guitar, golf, and enjoys being in the outdoors.

OUR ROLE
The Main Dish fulfills a need resulting from Calgary’s population
growth and our city’s economic good fortune. That said, we are
sensitive to the fact that not all Calgarians enjoy the same good
fortune. As part of the inner city community we are aware of our responsibility.
We need to contribute positively to existing and new social programs.
Our team is working to develop formal and informal relationships with
local groups to ensure that we earn a unique and rewarding distinction
as a neighbor of choice.
